What is Worm Tea?
Worm tea is an organic liquid fertiliser that provides billions of good microbes and nitrogen-fixing bacteria to your plants and veggies.
Worm tea liquid fertiliser is made from soaking worm castings (worm manure) in water.
Also referred to as worm juice, it is an excellent liquid organic plant fertiliser that improves soil health. It is also a natural insect repellant. Worm tea is far superior to chemical fertilisers, as chemical fertilisers can contain pesticides and herbicides. Chemical fertilisers can burn the soil and kill beneficial microbes.
It’s a Natural Insect Repellant
Worm tea also acts as a natural insect repellant. The tea contains microorganisms which produce chitanase, a digestive enzyme that breaks down the exoskeletons of insects such as arthropods. Additionally, the microbes have disease suppressant qualities that help to stop problems such as root rot.
To use as an insect repellent/pesticide: Dilute the worm tea up to 5 to 1 (5 parts water to 1 part worm tea concentrate), spray onto the plant foliage until it drips off.
Even though worm teas liquid fertiliser is concentrated, it will not burn your pant’s roots or the soil if you do not dilute it. Diluting it will make it go further and have greater effect.
